Buenassa is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Wesley Davis as Senior Advisor to the CEO – Capital Formation, with immediate effect. This strategic appointment reflects Buenassa’s continued commitment to strengthening its internal leadership capacity as it enters the critical project finance structuring phase of its copper and cobalt refinery initiative in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

With over three decades of high-level experience in international finance and infrastructure project development, Mr. Davis brings exceptional strategic depth to the company. A recognized expert in capital formation for large-scale infrastructure and industrial ventures in emerging and frontier markets, he has held executive positions at several of the world’s most respected financial institutions, including HSBC, Merrill Lynch, Deutsche Bank, Renaissance Capital, Chase Manhattan Bank, and Delphos International.  He has served in a senior advisory capacity and held board positions at reputable banks and major operating companies in emerging and frontier markets.

His appointment comes at a pivotal time, reinforcing Buenassa’s capacity to deliver on its next-phase priorities—notably the mobilization of blended capital and the structuring of long-term financing for the refinery project, following the completion of the scoping study financed by the Government of the DRC. Mr. Davis’s proven track record in deal origination, investor engagement, and transaction execution across Africa, the Middle East, and Asia will play a central role in supporting Buenassa’s ambitions to become a continental leader in critical mineral beneficiation.

“Bringing Wesley on board is a strategic move aligned with the timing and complexity of the phase we are entering,”said Mr. Eddy Kioni, CEO of Buenassa.

“As we transition from preliminary technical and legal groundwork to the full structuring of our financial architecture, Wesley’s expertise in capital markets and institutional fundraising will be instrumental in anchoring the project’s bankability.”

In his new capacity, Mr. Davis will contribute to the development and implementation of Buenassa’s capital formation strategy, including the identification of industrial, commercial, and financial partners aligned with the company’s long-term vision. He will work in close collaboration with Mr. David Vanhove, Buenassa’s Chief Financial Officer, and the internal project finance unit.

Mr. Davis expressed enthusiasm about his new role, stating:

“I am honored to join Buenassa at such a decisive moment in its journey. The company’s refinery project is not only bold in its vision—it is also essential to reshaping the global supply chain for critical minerals. Buenassa is uniquely positioned, with strong institutional support and a clear strategy for value addition in-country. I look forward to contributing to its capital formation strategy and helping to unlock its next stage of growth.”

Mr. Davis becomes the third member of a select group of high-caliber Senior Advisors supporting Buenassa’s executive leadership. He joins Mr. Simon Tuma-Waku (Senior Advisor – Mining) and Mr. Álvaro Campos de Carvalho (Senior Advisor – Project Management Office), both of whom bring extensive expertise in infrastructure delivery, operational management, industrial policy, and regulatory engagement.
